Sitio Uraya, Sitio Milako, Sitio Lambid and Sitio Naputkalan.

Reaching the Last Mile: Outreach Brings Hope to Ata Manobo Children in Talaingod. TALAINGOD, DAVAO DEL NORTE — More than 300 school children from Ata Manobo communities in the remote sitios of Uraya, Milako, Lambid, and Naputkalan received much-needed school supplies and support through a two-day outreach initiative led by Share Me A Dream Australia in partnership with Rotary Club Bentleigh Moorabbin Central, Rotary Club of South Davao, and Collective Plus Business Consultancy.

Timed to coincide with the Philippines' Brigada Eskwela campaign, the outreach aimed to help indigenous learners prepare for the opening of classes by providing school bags, educational supplies, raincoats, slippers, clothing, provided lunch (Arrozcaldo) and other essentials. Despite challenging conditions marked by scorching heat, heavy downpours, rough terrain, and difficult travel routes, volunteers pressed on to reach the mountain communities. The outreach served children from preschool to college level, with parents and community members warmly welcoming the delegation in every sitio visited. “This has been, by far, one of the most challenging outreach missions we have undertaken,” shared the organizers. “Yet every difficult journey became worthwhile when we saw the smiles of the children and the gratitude of their families.”

The initiative was made possible through the unwavering leadership of Share Me A Dream Australia’s President Ms. Terry Kane, with project coordination and local partnership engagement by Mr. Reymond Pepito of Collective Plus Business Consultancy, together with partner organizations and volunteers committed to supporting education and community development in geographically isolated areas. The organizers also acknowledged the invaluable support of local partners and community leaders.

Special thanks to Ms. Janice Relampagos and Atty. Jigs Relampagos' SP Team for conducting feeding activities alongside the outreach; Ms. Dimfna and Robert John Binasbas for hosting the team at Hillstone Mountain Villa as a safe shelter during the two-day mission; Team Kuyaw Vlog led by Mr. Genz Binasbas for documenting the journey; Uraya community leaders Mr. Nestor Cardeno and Ms. Regi Delantar for coordinating local efforts; and the dedicated personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) - Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) in Naputkalan for ensuring the safety and security of the volunteers throughout the activity.

As Share Me A Dream Australia marks its 15th year of service, the outreach stands as a testament to the power of compassion, partnership, and perseverance in reaching communities that are often left behind. For the volunteers, the experience was more than a relief mission—it was a reminder that meaningful change often begins by walking the difficult roads that others seldom take. Reflecting on a journey that brought not only assistance, but also hope, encouragement, and solidarity to the Ata Manobo communities of Talaingod, we say "To God be the glory"! Padayon, Share Me A Dream Australia, partners, and volunteers!
